Eligibility for TWF Scholar Athlete Scholarship

To be eligible for a TWF Scholar Athlete Scholarship the applicant must:

• Be an honor student between 5th grade and 12th grade.
• Be competitive in one or more sports at their academic school or a private sports club.
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
• Be involved in a volunteer organization or charity.
• Have demonstrated need for financial assistance.
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident (you will be asked to prove citizenship and age if you win).

Eligibility for the Larry D. Walls Legal Scholar Award

To be eligible, the applicant must:

• Be a graduating female undergraduate student matriculating to an accredited law school in the fall of 2025.
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.5.
• Be involved in a volunteer organization or charity.
• Have demonstrated need of financial assistance.
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident (you will be asked to prove citizenship and age if you are an ​award recipient).

Requirements

• 20% Academics
• 20% Community involvement and volunteerism
• 20% Essay
• 20% Recommendations
• 20% Video reel (maximum of 5 minutes in length)
• Scholar Athlete Scholarship Applicants please submit reel highlighting your sports achievement.
• Scholar Award Applicants please answer the following questions: 1) Why do you want go to law school, ​2) What type of law do you want to practice and why, and 3) your greatest accomplishment to date.

Selection Schedule

All applicants will receive notification of the Committee’s decision in October 2024.

PERSONAL STATEMENT/SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY

Your essay should not exceed 1000 words and must include a personal statement regarding how ​your athletic and/or academic goals have been impacted by the community you live in and your ​personal background, any financial considerations you would like considered, how you will benefit ​from receiving a scholarship, your professional goals, how the scholarship will help you reach ​career goals, why you should be awarded the scholarship, as well as discuss your community ​involvement and volunteerism.

We require three letters of recommendation as follows:

1) One letter from a school teacher, professor, administrator, or counselor;

2) One letter from a coach, administrator, or athletic director (scholar athlete applicants only);

3) One letter from employment or volunteer work (boss or supervisor).
